"Wherever I Am" Meditation
An Invitation to Pause, Notice & Appreciate
“Sometimes I need only to stand wherever I am to be blessed.”
Mary Oliver
Mary Oliver, as always, has just the right words. This week, wherever you are, outside in nature, in the car, in line at the grocery, working, sitting at the dinner table - just pause.
You can use this line as a mantra - repeat it to yourself, write it on a sticky note, place your hand over your heart and breath it in. A strong reminder packaged in gentle words to pause.
Here is a simple practice for anytime, anywhere, to carry the spirit of Splendid Sunday with is through the week.
Sink into your feet. Let them root.
Take a breath.
Set down all preoccupations.
Take a breath.
Open your eyes.
Look around with your heart.
What blessings and details do you see?
What animal visitors are coming to visit or living in your habitat right now?
What people or pets are around you?
Send them love.
Take a breath.
Imagine, your whole life and the Universe brought you to this very moment.
Wow.
Breathe in the LifeSong of the Universe. Exhale gratitude.
Feel the lightness.
Take a breath.
Wow.
Continue onward.
In Gratitude,
A.C.
These words come from the poem, "It Was Early” by Mary Oliver in her collection Evidence, 2009.
