Two Common Definitions of Reiki:
When people use the term “Reiki,” they may be referring to either spiritual energy or the healing practice of Reiki.
Reiki translates to “spiritual energy,” or, the energy found in all things that connects all things. Other spiritual practice call it prana, qi, or chi, related to the life force energy that flows through everything.
Reiki is also a meditative healing practice shared by Mikao Usui in Japan in the 1900s. This contain key elements such as meditation, gentle breathing practices and palm healing.
My Definition of Reiki:
Reiki is a the language of the universe, the energy of unconditional love. No words are needed, just presence. With awareness, we remember we are part of the tapestry of spirit that connects and dwells in all things. When we listen, we honor, respect and steward this connection to create a compassionate space for all beings.
What about Animal Reiki?
Kathleen Prasad is the creator of of the Let Animals Lead® Method of Animal Reiki. After years of trial and error working with hundreds of animals, she found that animals relate to energy differently than humans because they already live in awareness and occupy energetic space. For animals, traditional Reiki touch can be more of a hinderance than the helpful support as it is with humans. Through the Let Animals Lead® Method, we are able to invite all animals to share the Reiki Space with us in a way that honors their being & respects them as souls with agency and wisdom. Animal Reiki can truly transform our relationship with the entire Animal Kingdom.
All practices Under the Reiki Tree embrace the Six Pillars of the Let Animals Lead® Method of Reiki. After compassion, they are the heart of all practices for both people and animals.
